Assistant City Attorney
Under the general direction of the City Attorney, the Assistant City Attorney provides comprehensive legal counsel and representation to support all aspects of municipal government. This position advises the City Council, City departments, boards, and commissions on a broad range of legal issues, including municipal operations, labor and employment, land use, public contracting, litigation, risk management, and regulatory compliance. The Assistant City Attorney manages litigation, represents the City in administrative and judicial proceedings, drafts and reviews legal documents and assists in the administration of the City Attorney's Office. The position exercises substantial independent judgment, may supervise staff and outside counsel, and serves as Acting City Attorney in the City Attorney's absence.
